GaDaddy’s phone services is 24/7, and I found it to be very quick to get my many issues resolved.
If you own MANY domains with GoDaddy, you will automatically become a VIP customer and will be assigned an Account Executive (a real person). VIP customer have a designated contact number:
GoDaddy VIP Phone #: 480-505-8885
If you are a VIP and call regular cumber (480-505-8859) you will be transferred to VIP support – either your account rep. or any available executive rep. Regular customer service reps CANNOT and WILL NOT assist any VIP customer!
This is actually pretty inconvenient (in my opinion), as VIP support is not as numerous, and on weekends they don’t “open for business” until 8:00 AM Mountain Time (10 AM Eastern Time). So you can only get help from “overnight VIP agents” of which there are very few.
Recently I called VIP support on a Sunday, and was on hold for 15 minutes, and never got any response. I then called regular support and got a live rep in less than 1 minute. However, he REFUSED to help me due to company policy, and transferred me back to VIP.
Bottom line – I will request to have my VIP status removed!
You will need your GoDaddy customer number OR account login name OR last 8 digits of the credit card number on file. You will also need a call-in PIN.
If you have a 2-step authorization enabled (highly recommended), you will receive an SMS/Text message with temporary 6 digit code, once you go through basic authorization over the phone.
We highly recommend that ANY GoDaddy customer set up a 2-step authorization, via SMS (possibly through GoDaddy app). It is fairly simple for hackers to gain access to your email, and then reset your account password, and gain control over all your domains. 2-step authorization provides additional level of security, which requires you to have physical control of your mobile phone, to get the SMS with your temporary 6 digit code, required for ANY login via website, app or by phone. This make it nearly impossible to for hackers/scammers to get control of your GoDaddy account.
We also recommend that you setup a 2-step authorization with your email provider, for the primary email account address.
Lastly, for GoDaddy accounts, we recommend using free email services, such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail/Outlook, etc (with 2-step authorization), for the primary email address on file. If your email is assigned to any of your domains (Ex: email@example.com), and you forget to renew the domain or otherwise loose control of it, new domain owner can setup the same email and access your GoDaddy account.
